The Liberal Democrats on the London Assembly are campaigning on the big issues that matter to Londoners - like tackling the effects of climate change. Here I joined with Simon Hughes MP to support the 10:10 campaign.
At City Hall I've been urging Mayor Boris Johnson to support the
campaign. Despite his Conservative colleagues on the
Assembly walking out on my motion endorsing 10:10, he has now agreed to set
targets for part of the GLA to achieve reductions in the year ahead.
This is just one example of the results we can achieve. You too can join 10:10 - click here sign up.

Let's breathe clean and healthy air in London
London's air has been described as an invisible killer. Unlike the pea-soup smogs of yesteryear, today we can't see the tiny particles that cut short the lives of thousands of Londoners each year, contribute to the half-a-million cases of asthma and permanently reduce the lung capacity of children living near main roads. Unfortunately the Mayor's draft air quality strategy does not go far or fast enough in tackling the issue. We urgently need a Clear Air Zone for Central London, with help to take the oldest most polluting diesel vehicles off the streets. Fresh food for London
Mike's work on the Assembly's environment committee recently took him to Hackney and a visit to a small market garden - all part of an investigation into expanding access to fresh food in London. Watch a YouTube podcast of his on-the-spot reaction.
Sustainable 'smart card' to help Londoners do their bit for the environment
Mike Tuffrey has developed a plan for a reward card to encourage sustainable consumption in London. Most supermarket cards aim to get us to buy more, and 'reward' us with free flights and the like. But why not earn points by recycling more or switching to renewable energy, and redeem them on activity which doesn't leave a large carbon footprint? Download Mike's draft consultation paper and help him improve the plan. Sustainable Reward Card (PDF download 100k)
